Peanut Candy with Sorghum

 The Request: "My Grandmother used to make a peanut (not peanut butter) candy made with sorghum syrup. I believe she ground some of the peanuts. I would like to find a recipe similar to hers. Thank you, Starla"   Recipe provided by John.

 

Peanut Candy with Sorghum

1 1/2 cups of sorghum syrup
2 cups shelled parched peanuts (peanuts roasted in the shell)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup melted butter or margarine

In a sauce pan, boil the syrup until it forms hard drops when dropped into cold water. remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the other ingredients. pour the mixture into buttered pans to depth of 1/2to 3/4 when it is cooled, cut into serving sized pieces.
